On this wonderful Wednesday night I have finally decieded to take a crack at an 1850 6th ed list. I have decided to go back to playing black templars disguised as my excorsist for a while. after much slaving over a hot keyboard I have come up with the list below.

1850 Pts - Black Templars Roster

Total Roster Cost: 1846

My plan with the new rules is to try to get across the board as quick as possible and slam into combat with the big squads.  Even if I make it with only 10 people left, with the new Rage rule black templar have I will have 35 standard attack, 3 power axe attack, and either 5 power sword attack (emperor champion) or 5 power maul attacks (chaplain). Not only that, but if I assault with a squad with a chaplain I will re-roll to hits.

Now on the other side: anti-tank. Predator have become USEABLE AGAIN. I know what your thinking "they only have 3 hull points they are going to die....FAST." Well with glancing hits only taking a hull point away and not stopping you from shooting anymore, they have become the ultimate armor killers. So what if I lose a hull point a turn, I'm still shooting you with 3 lascannons. But on top of that with the aegis defense line covering more then 25% of the hull im getting a 4+ cover save (5 for 25% and +1 for the aegis defense line, if only I could go to ground in a tank.......) for when you do shoot at me (this may get FAQes but I'm using it till it does BWAHAHAHA). I will also have one 20 man squad sitting on the objective shooting the quad-gun, plasma, and rocket-launcher every turn. I think I have all the anti-tank I need.

Again, this is my first real attempt at making a semi-competitive list for 6th, what do you think?

  1. Hey Man. Fun List!! I really like it. Swarm Marines are awesome fun.

So review notes on the list. Obviously the lack anti-air is a problem, but there's not much that can be done about it given the codex. Anti-Tank seems fine, though I think your backfield troop squad is a bit overkill. I'd split it into two squads, a 9 man w/ML to sit on the Quad Gun, and then a 10 man w/ Plasma to advance and thicken your charge.

Also list feels a bit one dimensional. Pretty much all it is is a swarm of footslogging power armour (w/o Frag grenades) coming straight across the board to throw a kegger in your opponents deployment zone.

My thought is, why not send a few folks out early to set up chairs and stuff for the party.

If you don't mind using allies, I would drop one of the Masters' of Sanctity, and replace him with a Wolf Priest w/ Saga of the Hunter and Melta Bombs (same points cost). Then swap one of the Crusader Squads for a 15 Man Blood Claw squad w/ Power Weapon & 2x Meltaguns (Comes in at 245 Pts, so you could add an extra couple Neophytes maybe).

The list is still the same overall, and the Blood Claws even have +2 attacks on the charge. However now you can use the Wolf Priest to outflank with one of the mobs. Saga of the Hunter gives him Stealth & Outflank, which he'll confer onto whichever unit he joins. And because he has Acute Senses, he can re-roll when determining which side he comes in on.

So you can still juggernaught across the board, but with the optional added threat of flanking with one of the swarms.

    Just some thoughts man.
